The bubbles have all but stopped. Time to consult "The Joy of Pickling" to see what Linda Ziedrich says to do....
Hold fast. The bubbles have almost stopped so I'll let the pickles ride for another day and taste/refrigerate them tomorrow.
The daily updates will cease for the three days the pickles rest in the cooler. But I will write a wrap up about the flavor etc.
In the meantime, I picked up this great book called "The Art of Fermentation" by Sandor Ellix Katz. It's a little light, summer reading...
At two pounds, fourteen ounces and 480 pages (less index) it explains the principals behind fermentation and give more formulas than recipes.
I think I'll make mead.
On a personal note, a cool, 'lucky me' thing happened.
Yesterday I went to the FedEx office store to fax yet another signed house related document. The process is simple. You plug a credit card into a machine, hit some buttons, and send your fax. Easy peasy. I faxed the doc and came home, dressed etc and went to work. Today, I needed my credit card to reserve a hotel room in Munich. No credit card. I searched the apt and all my pockets. Then I saw the realtor's paperwork and remembered that the last time I had it was yesterday at the FedEx office store.
I dashed back to the store but there was a line of people waiting to send stuff. I sauntered over to the fax machine, my card was still in it. I guess Portlanders don't use public faxes very often.
Today is my Friday so I do the Happy Friday dance.
