I've been seeing this fantastic guy, Spike, a tattoo artist. He is as into food as I am, as well as being super talented. Here's my new tattoo:
I'm thrilled with the detail of the morel and the asparagus colors just blow me away. It's healed now and looks even better. Just in case the photo isn't clear, from top to bottom we have: asparagus, fiddle-head ferns, a morel and a French breakfast radish. Spring veggies! He used different green color families on each of the green items. I love the hairs on the radish root and the flecks of red on the asparagus.
My only regret is that I have to twist around uncomfortably to see it. My next piece will be where I can see it!
On a personal note, this guy, my Manfriend Spike is really sweet, wonderful even. He's also a thief as he's taken my heart. Yup, took it right out of my chest.
He's been tattooing for more than 20 years. It's funny, he calls himself a tattooer (not a tattoo artist although his work on skin and in oil paints absolutely qualifies him as an Artist) -- employing much the same humility that I use in calling myself a cook instead of a chef.
So far so good.
